This volume explores one of the most important late-Modernist architects active in Upper Silesia: Stanisław Kwaśniewicz. His creative legacy comprises a vast number of projects of varying functions and complexity—from iconic public buildings such as the Katowice Separator, Kosmos Cinema, the Silesian Scientific Institute, and the Silesian Library, to educational, residential, and sacred structures. Regardless of scale, Kwaśniewicz’s exceptional design mastery is evident in his attention to both the overall composition and its smallest details.
This monograph is unique in that it presents, for the first time, a comprehensive catalogue of all of Stanisław Kwaśniewicz’s works and realizations. The author—architect Małgorzata Malanowicz—worked closely with Kwaśniewicz for many years at the Katowice Miastoprojekt office, lending her study a deeply personal perspective. She skillfully constructs the portrait of the architect and the man, revealing a complete figure—his professional endeavors, involvement in creative associations, personal life, and interests, among which architecture always took first place as both his profession and his passion.
