The topic of the meeting was the unfinished modernist housing estate “Reta” in Mikołów, designed by Henryk Buszko and Aleksander Franta, the creators of, among others, the Tysiąclecia housing estate in Katowice. The first concepts for the “Reta” estate date back to 1974-1975. They envisioned a development that would be similar in size to the aforementioned Tysiąclecia estate. The Mikołów estate was supposed to consist of multi-family buildings arranged in a terraced layout, where each resident would have direct access to a garden or terrace. The event took the form of a lecture enriched with a presentation of early conceptual sketches, original design documentation, and a model that served as a basis for the designers during the estate’s planning.
The event took place on December 5th as part of the 6th Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE at the International Congress Center in Katowice.
The lecture was conducted by Dominika Śliwińska and Jakub Bródka, employees of our Institute.
