Architecture of Science | Archispacers

The Institute of Architecture Documentation of the Silesian Library organized the event “The Architecture of Science – Youth Palace” on April 29, 2024, as part of the Architecture Week, which itself was a segment of the program series 50 Weeks in the City of Science. Due to its positive reception, the “Architecture of Science” urban walking tour series (Archispacers) was developed.

As part of the Archispacers, participants visited several locations, including the Silesian Library, the Faculty of Theology of the University of Silesia, the Katowice Campus of the Silesian University of Technology, and the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice.

The Archispacers were held under the patronage of Architecture and Business

 

Archispacer vol. 1 | Silesian Library

On June 18, the tour was led by:

Archispacer vol. 2 | Faculty of Theology, University of Silesia

On June 24, the tour was led by
Arch. Henryk Wilkosz, accompanied by a staff member of the Faculty of Theology, University of Silesia.

Archispacer vol. 3 | Katowice Campus of the Silesian University of Technology

On July 10, the tour was conducted by
Prof. Dr. Hab. Eng. Arch. Magdalena Żmudzińska.

📷 Together with SARP Katowice / Architecture Gallery, we invite you to explore the photo report from the recent Archispacer at the Katowice Complex of the Silesian University of Technology (located at ul. Krasińskiego 8). The tour included buildings housing the Faculty of Materials Engineering, the Faculty of Transport, as well as Katowice branches of the Faculty of Computer Science and Automation and the Faculty of Architecture. Participants had the opportunity to visit rarely accessible spaces such as the grand auditorium, lecture halls, selected laboratory halls, and studios. They also learned about the history of the building.
Guiding the tour was Prof. Magdalena Żmudzińska-Nowak, joined by other staff members of the Silesian University of Technology.

Archispacer vol. 4 | Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School, University of Silesia in Katowice

Arch. Wojciech Małecki.
